Our History
The Los Rios ACM Chapter was launched in December 2018 at Sacramento City College with the purpose of providing students and members with amble career opportunities and resources to assist them as they enter into the computing industry.
Today, our ACM Chapter has held four successful hackathons open to all Los Rios Community College students to encourage new students to challenge and sharpen their skills as they begin preparing for their future endeavors.
Our Mission
The ACM Chapter at Los Rios aims to unite students, educators, researchers, and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources, advance educational and professional knowledge, promote diversity and inclusion, and address the challenges facing all areas where computing machinery may be present.

Founded at the dawn of the computer age, ACM’s reach extends to every part of the globe, with more than half of its 100,000+ members residing outside the U.S. Its growing membership has led to Councils in Europe, India, and China, fostering networking opportunities that strengthen ties within and across countries and technical communities. Their actions enhance ACM’s ability to raise awareness of computing’s important technical, educational, and social issues around the world.
